Title: Gilmore Line

Medium: Oil & Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 24 x 36 inches

Description:
This painting captures a fleeting but familiar moment, the SkyTrain gliding past Gilmore Station during golden hour. It’s a scene I’ve watched countless times, usually from a window or while walking below, but painting it gave me a chance to slow it down and see it differently.

I wanted the colours to feel alive, not just to show the movement of the train, but to reflect the pace of the city around it. Vancouver has this unique mix of concrete and canopy, steel and light, and I tried to exaggerate those contrasts through saturated tones and broad strokes. The sky is almost too golden, the shadows overly dramatic, but that’s how it felt to me.

This piece is about motion, routine, and the strange beauty of everyday infrastructure when the light hits just right. It’s not about the train, it’s about the feeling of being carried through the city, quietly, while everything around you moves in its own rhythm.
